Dance Base Yokohama 2026
Kyle Yamada & Yoeh Noda

今回の滞在では、リサーチプロジェクト「A CALL TO BEAR ARMS」の一環として、「熊の視点から」熊害を考えるパフォーマンス「A RIGHT TO ARM BEARS」を制作する。
The artists will research the recent surge in "bear conflicts" across Japan, alongside growing xenophobia. As artists with roots outside of Japan, Kyle Yamada and Yoeh Noda have collaborated from a shared sense of "absence" in identity, examining the relationship of that absence with place and language. During this residency, they will expand on their research project, A CALL TO BEAR ARMS, to create a new performance titled A RIGHT TO ARM BEARS. By introducing the Bear into the "Japanese/foreign" dichotomy, they aim to disrupt boundaries of exclusion. Viewing the very accumulation of their dialogue and research as a form of performance, the artists will archive the ways in which our bodies embody the Bear—i.e., the Other.
